Bhakti Yoga Seva Itinerary
Itinerary for Bhakti Yoga Seva - September 26, 2018 to Oct 7, 2018
Wed, 26 September – Day 1 Fly to India
Take your overnight flight to Delhi.
Thurs, 27 September – Day 2 Land in Delhi
Land in Delhi and take private car to airport hotel.
Fri, 28 September – Day 3 Fly Delhi to Varanasi
Our touring begins on our mat, every morning at 6am. After group introductions, we’ll begin our practice laying the foundation for the journey of self discovery, both on the mat and off. This first chakra work, grounds us in our bodies and allows us to connect to the ancestral traditions that make up the roots of mother India. After practice, we’ll enjoy breakfast with our group and depart for Varanasi, where we will immerse ourselves in the culture by walking the famous Ghats on our way to the evening Aarti. We will also take a short boat ride on the Ganges before returning to our hotel for dinner, followed by Dharma Talks.
Sat, 29 September – Day 4 Seva in Varanasi
We start our day with our devotional yoga practice. Pulling inspiration from our boat ride on Mother Ganga, we move freely into our studies of second chakra. Tuning into it’s sacred call, we’ll explore ritual in a creatively inspired Vinyasa flow connecting to the depths of our own mind, body, Spirit relationship. Breakfast is followed by our first introduction into community Seva, or selfless service in Varanasi.
Sun, 30 September – Day 5 Fly Varanasi to Dehredun
This morning, we fire up our solar plexus, third chakra and the momentum needed to embrace our day with an open mind and heart. As we empower ourselves to push through any struggles we encounter on the mat, it opens us up to the beautiful vulnerability of heart. From here we fly to Dehredun by way of Delhi, and prepare ourselves for offering our Seva back to community. Darma Talks followed by a deep night’s rest.
Mon, 1 Oct – Day 6 Seva with the students and staff of Purkal School
With an open heart we come to our morning practice and studies of fourth chakra. Today we understand how Seva, or selfless service, is just as important on our mats as off. We use the tools of love and compassion to fill our own cup, so that we may embrace giving back to community fully and from this heartfelt space. We drive into the hills of Dehredun to meet the team at Purkal Youth Development Society and Purkal Shree Shakti, for our Seva focus over the next 3 days.
Tues, 2 Oct – Day 7 Seva with the students and staff of Purkal School
Happy Gandhi Day! Morning yoga, followed by Swaachh Bharat (Clean India) initiatives. We will join Seva forces and some of the kids from Purkal to help the community clean up a local area.
Wed, 3 Oct – Day 8 Seva with Purkal Shree Shakti and Purkal School then travel to Rishikesh
We dawn our morning practice with deep ritual chanting - an ode to moving toward fifth chakra work and open communication. Our throat chakra is representative of our human ability to sync our heart with our words, by using a language of love. Today we head back to Purkal to meet Chinny, Founder of Purkal Shree Shakti. These women are inspirational! See how they are “raising their voice” to create awareness on social impact issues relevant to women in India. After our time with the collective, we will drive from Dehredun to Rishikesh and check into our Yoga Retreat Center. We conclude our final day of Seva with our nightly Dharma Talks.
Thurs, 4 Oct – Day 9 Reflections at the Yoga Center and hiking
As we come to our morning practice we turn the gaze inward to meditate on our Seva, and how this awareness may create some positive transformations in perspective. Surrounded by nature, we’ll take in the beautiful landscapes of the Himalayas with hikes and welcome the peace and quiet to reflect on the journey thus far.
Fri, 5 Oct – Day 10 Reflections at the Yoga Center and hiking
We start this day early with a guided trek.. Today marks our last communal practice on our mats. Seventh chakra signifies the union of mind, body, and Spirit. Just as we traveled through our own unique adventure of self discovery on the mat, we recognize and are in deep gratitude of the beautiful destinations traveled to in India. Using our “Bhakti” or devotion to our practice of yoga, we feel united within ourselves, our group, and this Global community that connects us all to the essence of the journey… LOVE. We close with yoga and our final supper together.
